The Vision Eco Grease TrapTM design prevents the buildup
of fats, oils and grease in waste pipes, are an environmentally friendly and cost effective in accordance with drainage and waste disposal legislation.
Vision Eco Grease TrapsTM are made entirely from stainless steel and virtually eliminate blockages caused by fats, oils, grease and other kitchen debris entering the drainage system. The unit is designed for under the sink, workbench or external installation. The Vision Eco Grease TrapTM is manufactured in a range of sizes from 20 litre to 200 litre capacity to suit requirements from domestic use to larger commercial applications.
The use of Ecoclear GuardTM Biological Drain Maintenance system with the Eco Grease TrapTM will enhance the efficiency of the system and reduce the maintenance of the trap.

What are Grease Traps?
GREASE TRAP TECHNOLOGY has remained virtually unchanged since the first patent was issued to Nathaniel Whiting in 1884. Grease traps are used to reduce the amount of fats, oils and greases (FOG’s) that enter the main sewers.
They can be made from a number of different materials; e.g. Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, Plastics, Concrete, Cast Iron. And have a wide range of capacity. They can be located above ground, below ground, inside the kitchen or outside the building.
How do they work?
They work on the basic principal that FOG’s float on water and solid particles sink. The inflow of waste water from the sinks is slowed by baffles causing the separation of oils, water and food particles within the unit. A trap on the outlet prevents FOG’s from flowing directly through the unit. Thus these FOG’s are retained within the unit along with food particles and cleaned water flows through. The retained waste collected within the unit needs to be removed at regular servicing intervals.
Advantages of our Eco Grease TrapTM design.
Traditional grease traps require high amounts of outside maintenance, as they need emptying on a regular basis. The contents of these traps are a mixture of food particles & grease. As the traps fills with these contaminants the discharge water quality diminishes.
Visions Eco grease trapsTM, can be self maintained, as the vast majority of the traps contents (solidified grease and food particles) are removed by the filter basket. The remaining filtered surface oil & fat can then be simply removed manually, and be disposed of correctly or can be treated with Ecoclear GuardTM Biological dosing agent. The result is a continuous higher quality water discharge.
Stainless Steel Traps Built to last
Ecoclear Guard TrapsTM are manufactured from high grade stainless steel. Unlike epoxy and plastics painted mild steel, stainless steel is highly resilient and will not crack, leak or distort with extreme high and low temperatures from water discharged from commercial sinks & dishwashers.
Ecoclear Guard TrapsTM are strong enough to take the daily knocks & scrapes of a commercial kitchen environment and are fitted with a 304 grade removable stainless steel filter which is chemical resistant and will not be damaged by sharp objects such as broken glass & cutlery.
Where are they needed?
Revised Building Regulation requires all new builds and refurbishments of hot food premises to have an effective means of grease removal on site. They are required on all sites that prepare hot food for the public or staff. Sites include the following:

Legislation & Guidance
Water authorities are no longer allowing untreated waste to be flushed down the drains. Employ our Vision Eco Grease Trap® in your premises for a cost efficient environmentaly friendly solution to waste management.
Revised Building Regulation April 2002
New Part H (Drainage and Waste Disposal) 2002
Part H1, Section 2 Foul Drainage
Section 2.21
“Drainage serving kitchens in commercial hot food premises should be fitted with a grease separator complying with prEN 1825-1 and designed in accordance with prEN 1825-2 or other effective means of grease removal.”
This new legislation is generally applied to new builds and refurbishments, although there is pressure to make it mandatory for all existing sites.

Water UK - Best Management practice:
"Grease traps/grease interceptors Grease traps are specially designed units which are placed in drain pipes to separate the fat, oil and grease from the rest of the wastewater. The wastewater then continues to flow to the sewage works for treatment while the grease is retained in the trap to be collected by a licensed waste oil collector at regular intervals. These units can be highly effective if they are correctly installed, serviced and maintained.
A written record of maintenance must be kept. Your local environmental health officer may be able to assist on the location and size of the unit to suit your premises to ensure it is efficient at preventing the grease causing problems in the drains."
